New 5-storey 50 unit seniors’ apartment complex for City Housing Hamilton. Comprised of fifty single bedroom apartments, 5 of which meet the City of Hamilton’s Barrier Free Guidelines for accessibility, the location offers ready access to major arterial roadways as well as City Transit. The building footprint measure 750 square meters with a total area of 4500 square meters. The structure is primarily block construction with brick veneer and metal panelling on the exterior. With 2 elevators each floor offers a common lounge space as well as a communal kitchen and gathering spaces in the basement as well as tenant storage. Each apartment is equipped with a Juliet balcony with sliding doors allowing for ample fresh air in the unit. The design for the mechanical HVAC system used central heat pumps, cooling towers and boilers system. Fresh air is supplied through a central makeup air unit.
